Utility companies require a clear path and visible display for safe reading and maintenance.

Always follow the property clearance rule: Maintain a 3-foot clear radius around the meter and ensure nothing hangs directlyover it.

Reader Access: Workers cannot read the meter if it is hidden by overgrown bushes, vines, trees, dirt ,grass, etc

Safety & Fire Hazards: Plants or debris around the meter trap heat and moisture.  Overheating can cause a fire or damage equipment.

Maintenance:  Technicians need immediate physical access to shut off, check for leaks, or restore utility during an emergency.
